Investigation Complete: Family Confirms Stillbirth of Baby Girl
PaaLoNaa’s Ongoing Demand for Proper Burial Solutions Since 2015
19 September 2024, Koderma, Jharkhand
In a heartbreaking incident, a newborn baby girl was found dead on the bank of a pond near the Maheshpur sub-health center in Kodarma on September 19, 2024. This tragedy highlights the pressing need for improved infant care and proper burial practices.
The incident was reported by Kuntlesh Pandey from Koderma Media, prompting the PaaLoNaa team to contact Thana Prabhari, SI Prem Kumar, for further details about the newborn baby girl. The investigation is now complete, confirming that the baby’s body was sent for post-mortem. The family had welcomed twins on September 16, 2024; while the boy was born healthy, the girl was stillborn. Heavy rainfall that day led to the baby being buried near the pond, resulting in her body being exposed.

PaaLoNaa’s Long-Standing Demand for Proper Burial Practices
Since 2015, PaaLoNaa has been advocating for alternative solutions regarding the burial of deceased infants. We demand that all deceased newborns be buried in designated areas such as cemeteries or crematoriums, rather than being disposed of in water bodies or unmarked locations.

Dos and Don’ts for Parents:
- Do ensure that all deceased infants are buried in designated burial sites to maintain dignity and respect.
- Do not dispose of a deceased infant’s body in rivers, ponds, or unmarked locations.
- Do not hesitate to seek help or guidance from local authorities or NGOs.
By following these guidelines, we can ensure that every infant is treated with the respect they deserve, even in death. PaaLoNaa continues to advocate for stronger protective measures for newborns and urges the community to raise awareness about these critical issues.
