Where They found a newborn baby in deep dry well

The whole incident took place in Pandavpura town’s Chandra village, located in Mandya district, Karnataka. A one-day-old baby boy was miraculously rescued after he was dropped in a 10-feet deep well here. The baby was prematurely born and is currently out of danger. The police have launched an investigation into the matter. Paalonaa received this information by  Mr Bhupendra Singh, a senior journalist of Sirsa District of Haryana.

A miraculous rescue

The local villagers heard the baby’s cries on the morning of Friday, 16th September 2022, from the now dried up and defunct well. The villagers lifted the baby out of the well with the help of a rope. The baby was admitted to a local centre for first aid. The baby was then shifted to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), where the baby is currently recuperating.

Surprisingly, despite the depth of the well and the fact that it was completely dry, the baby sustained only minor injuries, and a wound on his back. The District Health Officer of Mandya, Dr Dhanajaya said, “The child has minor injuries. Since the baby was born prematurely, its weight was only 1.5kg. It is being treated in the NICU.”

On 17th September, 2022, district minister K Gopalaiah paid a visit to MIMS and asked about the newborn’s health in addition to giving instructions on how to best care for him. The culprits, as of now, are not known.

Last month also, a Newborn baby found abandoned in plastic cover, rescued in Karnataka. That incident took place on Thursday, 25th August.

In September month of 2020, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in garbage pile of Bangalore. Later she died during treatment.

Paa Lo Naa’s Perspective

It is out of sheer luck that the child survived such a dangerous fall. It’s not merely a case of abandoning a baby, but they tried to kill the innocent baby. It’s a simple case of attempt to murder.

The Government of India has a Safe Surrender Policy, which aids relatives, who are unable to look after the child, to safely and anonymously hand the child over to the authorities. Awareness about this policy must become a spread as far and wide as possible, to prevent such incidents.

In numerous cases, local villagers have done their best to help babies found in such painful conditions. The local authorities must congratulate and felicitate these brave hearts and celebrate their noble contributions to the society.
