In a heart-wrenching incident, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in the bushes of Pratappur, Surajpur, her body covered with ant bites. It is suspected that the baby was left shortly after birth. Early Monday morning, at around 4 AM, local resident Pratima Kashyap heard the baby crying and rushed to the scene.
Ants Biting Newborn Baby in Surajpur
Deep Singh Kushwaha from Vidisha shared this information in PaaLoNaa’s group. According to the local media, Pratima Kashyap, a resident of Ward No. 10, was alerted by the sound of a baby crying near her home. Upon investigation, she discovered a tiny baby girl in the bushes, with ants crawling on her. Pratima immediately rescued the baby and cleaned off the ants. She noticed a thin cloth wrapped around the baby’s neck, suggesting an attempt to strangle her. It appears the perpetrators, unable to go through with their act, abandoned her in the bushes.
Community’s Help and Hospitalization
Pratima Kashyap called for help from her neighbors, and together they took the baby to the community health center. The baby was treated for ant bites, which had left red marks all over her body. It’s believed that the baby was born on Sunday, but the identity of those who abandoned her remains unknown.
Heroic Act by Pratima Kashyap: A Community’s Support
Pratima Kashyap and her daughter Chandni have been caring for the baby as if she were their own. Chandni is eager to adopt the baby, and they have been attending to her needs at the hospital. They even accompanied the baby in the ambulance when she was referred to the Surajpur District Hospital. However, the adoption process requires legal proceedings to be completed.
The Legal Path to Adoption: Challenges Ahead
Adopting a child involves a rigorous legal process. The authorities have to ensure that the child’s best interests are protected. Chandni Kashyap’s desire to adopt the baby girl will need to go through several legal hurdles. The community health center reported the incident to the police, and the Pratappur police have begun an investigation. After initial treatment, the baby was transferred to the Surajpur District Hospital for better care and monitoring. The baby is currently in stable condition and will be placed in special adoption agency (SAA).
